On your next visit to the Disneyland® Resort, be sure to stop by New Orleans Square in Disneyland® Park and wish the motley crew of the Pirates of the Caribbean a happy 40th anniversary. These scallywags have been sacking the Spanish Main since 1967 in the original version of the classic Disney Theme Park attraction—which also happens to be the last attraction created under the personal supervision of Walt Disney himself. (And if you haven’t spotted him already, be sure to keep an eye out for the newest member of the crew: A savvy buccaneer by the name of Captain Jack Sparrow, star of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series.)
True fans will surely want to mark this milestone anniversary—and there’s a veritable treasure trove of commemorative booty just waiting to be discovered! Artist Amanda Visell produced a series of stylized Pirates of the Caribbean prints in honor of the attraction’s 40th. And well-known sculptor and miniaturist Robert Olzewski has created a special heirloom treasure chest box especially for the occasion. There are even some new pirate-themed ornaments by famed designer Christopher Radko to hoist up your tree this holiday season!
For more pirate fun, follow “The Call of Adventure,” one of three specially themed dream paths available to Guests at the Disneyland® Resort. And beginning May 25, you can put your new swashbuckling skills to the test over in Pirate’s Lair at Tom Sawyer Island. It’s the perfect place for pirates of all ages to climb, explore and search for buried treasure.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a celebration without food, and you’ll find a galley full of tasty pirate-themed treats to choose from in and around New Orleans Square. Eat hearty, matey, because you’ll need all the strength you can muster for the rest of your adventurous day!
As you can see, there’s never been a better time to come live your dream of being a pirate at the Disneyland® Resort—the place Where Dreams Come True!
