Disney Monorail lovers might be interested to know that Colorado voters are deciding whether to build their own between Denver and the Vail ski slopes this fall. The proposed plan is supposed to help alleviate traffic bottlenecks without building more roadway.
Miller Hudson, former head of the Colorado Intermountain Fixed Guideway Authority, is excited about building a monorail system that got its name from Walt Disney's entertaining theme parks. However the Mouse seems to be getting in the way of opponents to the plan, including Governor Bill Owens who called the project "an expensive Disneyland ride."
Proponents of the plan argue that the Monorail would come just in time to help alleviate consumers of rising gas prices, and point out that monorails are faster, safer, and cleaner than cars. The most famous monorails are at the Disneyland Resort in California, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and zoos such as the ones in Philadelphia and Miami.
