What's New?

Ryan "Leaky Tiki"
July 3, 2001

"In 1972 the creative spirit of California combined with the magic of Disney to bring to life a parade unlike any other. Since then it has spanned three decades and three continents. We invite you now to enjoy the return of the glittering classic that has brightened the hearts of millions," welcomes the female voice as then the lights on the parade corridor flash and then the familiar notes begin…

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Disney proudly presents our spectacular festival pageant of nighttime magic and imagination in thousands of sparkling lights and electro-syntho-magnetic musical sound. Disney's Electrical Parade!"

Cheers abound, the Electrical Parade has returned, with only minor updates and changes, but an extremely bright and sparkling new look. The new female voice welcomes Guests to the return of the Parade; much in the same way Guests are introduced to Fantasmic! at Disneyland. Familiar music then begins and the famous synthesized voice of Jack Wagner fills the air, but this time it's Disney, not Disneyland, who is proud to present "Disney's Electrical Parade".

As the parade begins to come into view, the Blue Fair appears with an extremely bright and shimmering look. All floats in the return of the Electrical Parade have been redone and give the impression that the Parade has never been run a day in its life. The surface of all the floats have been completely redone with a new shiny foil-like material that helps them shine even brighter. The lights are brighter than they have ever been in their lifetime, and a far cry from those that appeared during the parades final months. Everything looks brilliant.

The new shiny foil adds to the sparkle of the floats.

Guests familiar with the Parade before it left Disneyland in 1996 will notice a few missing elements from the procession. Most noticeable is the loss of the Pinocchio Pleasure Island float. Also dropped is the mine float from the end Snow White mine train scene.

Disney took this opportunity to make a Disney Park Classic shine even brighter and their work shows. Judging from the reaction at the press preview, Guests seem to really enjoy the refreshed return of the Electrical Parade to the Disneyland Resort.
