Disney released the official press release yesterday on Luminaria, a special holiday show to premiere on Paradise Bay in Disney's California Adventure on November 9, 2001 and run through January 6, 2002. Luminaria is a show of lights, colors, water, and moderate pyrotechnics in time to classic holiday music.

The show begins with a swirl of flame on Paradise Bay, and the voice of Luminaria's narrator giving the message of peace for the holidays. Luminaria continues with a display of fireworks and water dancing to famous holiday classics Screens of water, similar to those used in Disneyland's Fantasmic!, will display 60 images of Christmas cards and greetings made by Disney's California Adventure Guests. Guests can make the holiday cards during the day at a spot set up in the Bay Area section of the park. A giant Christmas tree covered in lights will appear to emerge from the center of the lagoon.

"We wanted to create a truly memorable experience for our first holiday season for our guests in Disney's California Adventure," says Cynthia Harriss, the Disneyland Resort President.

Steve Davison, the creative director of Luminaria said, "The holiday season is a time of reflection, joy and generosity and we wanted to capture those feelings in Disney's LuminAria. That is why the show is filled with lights that float, sparkle and burst into the air." Davison also directed Believe…There's Magic in the Stars and Fantasmic!
