Wolfgang Puck's Avalon Cove and Robert Mondavi's winery pulled out of Disney's California Adventure park last week after failing to pull in sufficient crowds and profits.
According to Disneyland Resort spokesman Ray Gomez, Avalon Cove officially closed its doors last Monday, October 1. A Wolfgang Puck spokesman declined comment. Rumor has it the Avalon Cove restaurant area will be converted into a family character dining establishment themed to The Little Mermaid.
Robert Mondavi is also giving up the staffing of the winery and restaurant in the park, but will remain a park sponsor. The restaurant pulled out of the park because of the heavy losses resulting from unexpectedly low attendance. The winery tours, movie, and deli are expected to remain open, but run by Disney Cast Members rather than Mondavi staff. The restaurant area will most likely for corporate events.
Guests should be advised of these changes when planning out their itineraries for upcoming vacations at the resort.
