The latest addition to the world of Disney theme parks opened yesterday outside of Paris with inaugural festivities by Michael Eisner, Roy Disney, and a famous gang of Disney characters. Walt Disney Studios offers Guests a behind-the-scenes look into the arena of animation, movies, and television.
The opening of Walt Disney Studios commemorates the tenth anniversary of its sister park next door, Disneyland Paris, which after a rocky start back in 1992 now welcomes about 12 million visitors per year. With the addition of Walt Disney Studios the area is now known as the Disneyland Resort Paris, which also features Disney Village, a shopping and dining area much like Downtown Disney in Orlando's Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort in California.
While Walt Disney World features an MGM Studios, this is the first Walt Disney Studios park to open to the public. The Studios offer Guests a wide range of attractions including the Studio Tram Tour, which takes Guests on a wild ride through the magical world where movies are made. Rock 'n Rollercoaster is an indoor thrill ride full of twists and turns, all in time with some of Aerosmith's greatest hits. The Art of Disney Animation gives tourists a peek at some of the secrets behind the magic of Disney animated classics.
