Pirates Closes Until Further Notice Due to Accident

In a breaking news story, Pirates of the Carribean at Disneyland Park was closed Tuesday until further notice pending a state accident investigation. A woman fell and struck her head, suffering a possible concussion. The woman was exiting the ride when the boat lurched forward and she fell backwards across two rows, striking her head. Disney Hopes Parking Structure Will Accomodate Parking Needs

With the opening of Disney's California Adventure, Disney has even more Guests than normal to accomodate, especially in the area of parking. The new Mickey and Friends parking structure, which holds over 10,000 cars and can park one car a second, is one way Disney hopes to help out the many Guests who will be flooding in to see the resort. Disney Recreates the Golden State in New Theme Park

The Daily Bruin newspaper of University of California, Los Angeles has published a feature on the new Disney's California Adventure theme park. The feature includes input from Barry Braverman, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer of Walt Disney Imagineering, who comments on the various aspects and theme of the new park. "We're kind of building a theme and a story by the places that we create in this park," Braverman said. Braverman also comments on the construction of the park and its history from when the idea first arose years ago. Opening of Disneyland Resort Brings a Wide Range of Charity Benefits

The LA Times has published a feature on the numerous charitable events that are ongoing at the new Disneyland Resort as the exciting expansion continues. Last week Cynthia Hariss was honored with the Tree of Life Award at the Grand Californian Hotel hosted by the Jewish National Fund that raised over $250,000 to alleviate the water crisis in Israel. On Monday, January 15, Disney teamed up with the Orange County Children's Hospital for a special preview day of Disney's California Adventure theme park that raised close to $600,000 for the hospital. Multimedia Gallery Update With Disney's California Adventure Photos

The Multimedia Gallery has been updated with approximately 160 photos of the new Disney's California Adventure! The photos include shots of all areas of the park including Grizzly River Rapids, Paradise Pier, Hollywood Backlot, Pacific Wharf, Bountiful Valley Farm, Condor Flats, and the Gateway Plaza. The gallery includes photos of most of the restaurants, attractions, and shops in this exciting new theme park! This brings the grand gallery total to 5,999 photos of the Disneyland Resort and beyond...but there's room for 6,000, any volunteers? ;) If you wish to send a photo, you may not NEED to volunteer.

Downtown Disney Official Opening Benefits Pediatric AIDS Foundation

Downtown Disney made its official opening Thursday night with a bang in a private benefit event for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Sylvester Stalone, the LA Laker girls, and Disney chief executive Michael Eisner were among the roughly 5,000 in attendance at the benefit which raised more than $300,000. A spectacular minute-long fireworks show erupted after Eisner officially presented Downtown Disney, the 300,000 square foot mall of specialty shops and restaurants that is a remarkable addition to the Disneyland Resort. President of Disneyland Receives 2001 JNF Award

President of Disneyland Cynthia Hariss will receive the Jewish National Fund (JNF) Orange County/Long Beach Region Tree of Life award for 2001. Hariss will be presented the honor on Wednesday, January 17th at 6 pm in front of the Tree of Life (TM) gala at the new Grand Californian Hotel. Cokie Roberts of ABC News will be the keynote speaker at the event. Tickets for the event are $500/person, and all proceeds go towards alleviating the current water crisis in Israel. "Downtown Disney, Uptown Fun, Opening January 12, 2001" reads a billboard in the Southern Orange County Area. With the opening of Downtown Disney, the Disneyland Resort will be bringing the fun of venues similar to the Irvine Spectrum and the Block at Orange uptown to Northern Orange County.
