Disney's Electrical Parade will be canceled if there are poor weather conditions, such as rain or high winds. Guests should check with a Guest Relations Host or Hostess or a nearby Cast Member for the parade's status or listen over the loudspeaker along the parade route.
The one downer about this classic and popular parade is that it attracts crowds. Guests should situate themselves along the parade route at least one hour before showtime for a prime viewing spot.
One of the best spots discovered for this parade is in front of Burr-bank Ice Cream and Baker's Field Bakery, both located in the California Zephyr train in Entry Plaza. This is a great place for Guests to grab a hot snack or luscious dessert and watch the parade from one of the covered tables directly along the parade route. Or if Guests choose, they can sit on the ground in front of the tables directly along side the parade.
Disney's Electrical Parade is a California classic that is loved by Disney fans all over the world. Formerly known as Main Street Electrical Parade, this spectacular display of colored lights last marched down Main Street in Disneyland Park in November 1996. Five years later, the parade returns to the resort's new theme park as a renowned California classic.
The electrical parade first went down Main Street in Disneyland Park on June 17, 1972. It features eight fantasy-filled scenes: Blue Fairy, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Snow White, Alice In Wonderland, Dumbo Circus, Pete's Dragon, and the American Finale. Eight different colored lamps are used to decorate the 26 dazzling floats: red, blue, green, amber, pink chartreuse, clear, and magenta.
Some fun facts about the parade Guests might like to know:
- There is enough wire used on the parade floats to stretch from San Diego to San Francisco, California.
- The parade is run completely on battery power - lights and all.
- The batteries are recharged in the middle of the night while most of the nation is asleep.
- The batteries use less than 2/10 of 1% of the Resort's total energy-use to recharge.
All in all, this is an amazing parade that will touch the hearts of Guests for many more years to come. It's fun for the whole family, and definitely worth at least one viewing during a trip to the Resort.
As mentioned above, the best Eating Locations to visit for a quick bite before the parade are Burr-bank Ice Cream and Baker's Field Bakery. However, if Guests are looking for a full meal, Taste Pilot's Grill is the nearest restaurant in the Entry Plaza/Golden State area, while Burger Invasion and Pizza Oom Mow-Mow are all near the Parade Route in Paradise Pier. Guests can also catch a glimpse of the parade while dining at one of the locations in the Pacific Wharf, or while enjoying an exquisite meal at the Mondavi Winery on the patio overlooking the parade route.
Restrooms are a little bit hard to get to along the start of the Parade Route in Entry Plaza. Guests should use the ones near the entrance to Hollywood Pictures Backlot by ABC Soap Opera Bistro or those just inside the Condor Flats area across from Soarin' Over California. Further down the route near Pacific Wharf restrooms are located behind Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill, and next to Burger Invasion in the Paradise Pier area.
