Tea Time

Portions ©Disney

The Disneyland Pacific Hotel now offers an opportunity for friends and family to enjoy a traditional, intimate tea with a most fitting hostess at the "Practically Perfect Tea."

Offered each Saturday and Sunday, the midday tea takes place in a charming Victorian "parlor," complete with latticed walls, antique furniture, a fountain, hand-painted garden murals, and an antique carousel horse. The conservatory atmosphere is accented by flowering vines and floral baskets hanging throughout the room. The sumptuous tea is served in fine English bone china by elegantly clad attendants.

The tea's elegant hostess will certainly measure up to all her Guests' expectations. She will be on hand at every sitting, freely dispensing charm, wit, and the occasional spoonful of sugar . . . for your beverage, of course! She promises to entertain in the most delightful way, waltzing about the parlor and singing classic Disney songs. Guests are invited to join their hostess in a proper "period" photograph, borrowing from a selection of old-time hats and accessories.

The teatime party features a savory assortment of delicacies, including freshly baked orange scones with sweet cream and raspberry jam, apple pillows, miniature crepes, tiny quiches, and an assortment of finger sandwiches. Children can enjoy a few items made especially for them, such as Mickey Mouse waffles and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. A sweet selection of desserts is also served, fresh from the chef's oven. A wide selection of teas ranges from a strong and simple English Breakfast tea, to a deep and fragrant Darjeeling.

The "Practically Perfect Tea" offers three seatings each Saturday: 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3 p.m., and two gatherings on Sundays: 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tea is served in the Tea Room at the Disneyland Pacific Hotel, 1717 West Street, Anaheim, CA 92802. Reservations are encouraged, and validated parking is available. For more information, please call our Resort Restaurant Reservation Line at (714) 956-6755.

Groups are welcome. However, seating is limited -- so do make your reservations spit spot!

The following is from SER5250@aol.com.
The woman who played the role of Mary Poppins was the same both times. She did a good job singing and generally acting the role of Mary Poppins. She visited every table, and there were good opportunities for a "photo op" with Mary.

The tea menu had what I would consider to be the standard Enlish high tea. The service was better the first time, but there were at least two birthday parties with little girls so the noise level started to rise as the tea went on. I got the impression that the tea is very popular for birthday parties for girls in the age eight to eleven range. The tea apparently has no dress code because the second time there was a man in a tank top which I thought was not appropriate for the setting.

Thanks to Lord Nikkon for the following:
Also, in regards to the Practically Perfect Tea... there is a third day that I have found out about only because a friend and I were trying to make reservations for tomorrows tea... Wednesdays at 12:30pm seems to be the only weekday for the tea party... just a little FYI...
