What to Bring/Wear

Many guests have two common problems after spending a full day at the Disneyland Resort: cool evenings and sore feet. It is important to recognize that with the exception of guests who spend the day in a stroller or wheelchair, there is a lot of walking involved in a day a the Resort and guests should plan accordingly by wearing comfortable shoes and socks. Some guests may even like to bring an extra pair of socks or shoes in case they get wet on some of the attractions, or simply for comfort.

For clothing, guests should also come well prepared. While the weather forecast may show a hot day ahead, the evenings can still cool down significantly. During the day in the summer guests should be prepared for occasional scorching temperatures, and should dress in T-shirt and shorts. Female guests should be aware that even in hot weather, it is not appropriate to strip down to bikini tops or wear revealing clothing and Men cannot take off their shirts. This is against Disneyland Resort dress code and violators will be asked to change clothes or leave the Resort. Guests should come prepared with plenty of sun block. Most of the park is outside in the sun and some queue areas are in direct sunlight, so guests will want to cover up any sensitive areas. It is recommended to bring sun block from home, as sun block is sold at the parks but it is quite expensive.

On summer nights, guests should expect cooler temperatures around low to mid-60s. Most people don’t realize that the Southern California area is actually a desert, which means the days are hot and evenings tend to be on the cool side. Guests will want to bring at elast a sweatshirt along and maybe even long pants. Lockers are available for a $4, $5, or $6 fee, depending on the size of the lockers. They can be found inside Disneyland on Main Street, U.S.A. and in Fantasyland; inside Disney’s California Adventure at the Golden Entryway (under the Golden Gate Bridge); and outside the Main Entrances of the two parks. If you plan to watch Fantasmic!, it is recommended that these items are retrieved before watching the show, as it is on the edge of the Rivers of America, and guests may get wet due to the water effects. In addition, it is suggested that guests who want to ride Splash Mountain or Grizzly River Rapids in the evening bring a change of clothes. Additionally, Grizzly River Rapids has its own Lockers System, in which the first hour of locker use is free of charge. Guests would be charged only if use exceeds one hour. This provides a convenient temporary storage for items that may be damaged by water.

In the wintertime, guests should keep an eye on the weather forecast to find out what the weather will be like and plan accordingly. Sweatshirts and Jeans are usually good choices, but it all depends on what type of weather guests are used to and what the weather is supposed to be. Springtime tends to get the most rain, but winter showers are not unusual.

It is recommended guests bring certain items along with them on their trip to save money. The Disneyland Resort does offer most necessities but they will come at a higher price than normal. Here are a few things that guests should try to bring along:
  • For those with a camera, remember to bring an abundance of film (more than one would ever expect to use). Prices on film run very high in the park, and guests will want to be well prepared so nobody has to hurry and buy film during a show.
  • Batteries are also a good idea. The resort does offer some basic kinds of batteries but they may not have the type that is needed in every camera. Guests who bring a video camera should remember to bring extra tapes and extra charged batteries. This allows filming to continue all day long.
  • Guests may also want to bring a plastic bag for the camera if they are planning to film Fantasmic! at rivers edge or film the drop on Splash Mountain or Grizzly River Rapids.
  • Guests will also want to bring snacks for the day. More information can be found in the Dining and Snacking Section of this guide.
  • Guests bringing a baby along should be sure to have all the needed baby supplies. If something is forgotten, stop by the Nursing Center at the end of Main Street, next to the Photo Supply Company and they should be able to provide whatever is needed.
  • Strollers, wheelchairs and motorized wheelchairs can be rented but to save money we recommend bringing one along.
